The most over-used phrase by cold-call sales people: “in your area”.
Such as “We were just in your area and..”, or “One of our reps will be in your area..”.
Use of the phrase is an immediate and total turn-off of potential customers and should never be used. The implication is that they are just talking to you because they happened to be nearby, not because they are actually interested in your business.
I hear it at least a couple of times a day, from phone callers and door-to-door sales people. Sad to see such poorly coached sales teams!
